A family firm with the professional touch

From a 100-window replacement programme at Manchester’s historic Heaton Hall, to a bespoke coffee table for a discerning private client, James Thorpe & Son are the natural choice for joinery in Manchester and the North West.

Take a look at our projects to see why clients including Manchester City Council and brewers JW Lees have trusted us with their most valued properties.

But it isn’t just those big projects that we love to take on.

Our skilled craftsmen can turn their hand to residential briefs including extensions, kitchens, stairways to smaller bespoke items.

From humble beginnings in a workshop in 1920s Manchester our founder James Thorpe started a joinery business that one hundred years later still meets the very highest standards.

Our history and reputation are your assurance of quality, integrity and reliability.

Sustainability

We are mindful of the need to minimise the impact of our work on the environment and aim to actively reduce our carbon footprint.

*We only use hardwood timber from sustainable forests that have been verified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

*We only use building materials like insulation, bricks and cement from well-managed sources that are carbon neutral wherever possible.

*Waste Management – we recycle as much as we can in-house and use waste disposal services that achieve an 80% recycling rate.
